Start your Wildflower Meadow
“The Meadow Maker” as it’s known is an essential plant for everyone trying to establish a meadow. Yellow Rattle or The Meadow Maker is used in the creation of Wildflower meadows as it is semi parasitic on grasses. This plant will weaken the grasses allowing other wildflowers to grow.
Each Packet contain approximately 200 seeds and is approximately 2 grams of seeds.
This seed is ideally sown fresh from July to November into existing grass or meadow. Each pack covers approx. 4 square metres.
How to introduce it:
- Choose a sunny place in the garden
- Cut the grass as short as possible with a mower or strimmer
- Rake away the cuttings (August to November)
- Spread the seed at 0.5 grams per square metre directly on the ground
- Mixing the seed with sand if you like for better coverage
- Once spread in Autumn, keep the grass cut short until February
- Stop mowing in March and the seed will germinate after the winter cold
- Allow to flower during the summer
- Cut the meadow down in late September and remove clippings
